Synopsis
For the majority of her life, Emma worked as a maid. Emma has grown to love her employment and has long accepted her place in society, working for a retired governess, Kelly Stownar, who is strict yet caring. Emma has won the hearts of many of London's working men because she is beautiful, hardworking, and incredibly kind—but their sentiments are never reciprocated. Emma is on the lookout for love, and she finds it in the strangest of places. William is the eldest son of the prosperous Jones family, a family that has only recently been recognized into the gentry, ensuring their place in high society. He is also Mrs. Stownar's former ward, and on his first visit in years, he falls in love with her maid. Emma's heart has been grabbed by his honest attempts to win her devotion, as well as his excellent temperament and pleasant attitude. The rejection of tradition, however, does not sit well with the genteel society of nineteenth-century England.
